Why this exists

This Acceptable Use Policy outlines the rules for using MemoryBoxd. By using our service, you agree to comply. Violations may result in suspension or termination.

Prohibited content

You may NOT upload, store, transmit, or share content that:

Is illegal

  • Violates any local, state, national, or international law
  • Promotes or facilitates illegal activities
  • Contains child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
  • Depicts illegal drug manufacturing or distribution
  • Contains evidence of criminal activity

Is harmful

  • Depicts or promotes violence, self-harm, or suicide
  • Contains graphic violence or gore
  • Promotes terrorism or violent extremism
  • Encourages dangerous or life-threatening behavior

Is hateful

  • Promotes hatred or violence against individuals or protected groups
  • Contains hate speech or slurs
  • Promotes supremacist ideologies

Is sexually explicit

  • Contains pornographic or sexually explicit material
  • Depicts non-consensual sexual acts
  • Involves minors in sexual contexts
  • Promotes prostitution or sex trafficking

Harasses or abuses

  • Threatens, bullies, or doxxes others
  • Promotes stalking or unwanted contact
  • Contains intimate images shared without consent

Violates IP

  • Infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
  • Contains pirated movies, shows, or copyrighted content
  • Violates software licensing agreements

Misleads

  • Contains deepfakes or manipulated media intended to deceive
  • Spreads misinformation about health, elections, or emergencies
  • Impersonates others or misrepresents identity

Prohibited activities

Spam & abuse

  • Send unsolicited commercial emails
  • Send bulk messages without recipients' consent
  • Email harvesting or scraping
  • Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions

Security violations

  • Attempt unauthorized access to our systems or other accounts
  • Bypass security measures or authentication
  • Conduct security testing without explicit permission
  • Probe, scan, or test vulnerabilities

Malicious activities

  • Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code
  • Launch denial-of-service attacks
  • Phishing or social engineering
  • Distribute ransomware

Service abuse

  • Interfere with or disrupt the service
  • Place excessive load on our infrastructure
  • Use automated systems (except approved APIs)
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble our software

Privacy violations

  • Collect personal information without consent
  • Share videos containing private information without permission
  • Record others without their knowledge or consent (where legally required)

Anti-spam compliance

You must:

  • Only send videos to recipients who've agreed to receive them
  • Provide accurate sender information
  • Include your contact information in messages
  • Honor opt-out requests promptly
  • Not use misleading subject lines

Copyright (DMCA)

Only upload content that you created, have permission to use, or falls under fair use. Repeat copyright infringers have their accounts terminated.

Reporting violations

Include: description of the violation, account or content involved, date/time, any evidence.

Consequences

  • Content removal: violating content may be removed without prior notice
  • Warning: minor first-time violations
  • Suspension: temporary block for repeated or moderate violations
  • Termination: permanent for serious violations (illegal content, severe abuse, repeated IP infringement, security attacks, circumventing prior suspensions)
  • Legal action: we may report illegal activities to law enforcement

Monitoring

We don't proactively monitor all content, but we reserve the right to review content in response to reports, use automated detection, monitor usage patterns for abuse, and investigate suspicious activity.

Age

Users must be at least 13. Content should be appropriate for general audiences unless clearly restricted.

International

Access from outside the US means you're responsible for local-law compliance. Some content legal in one jurisdiction may be prohibited in another.

Appeals

If you believe an action was taken in error, write to appeals@memoryboxd.com with your account info, details, and rationale. Reviews take 5–7 business days.
